SMS

How D3x agents handle guest SMS with live PMS context, the same Skills Engine as WhatsApp, usually over Twilio.

SMS is the fallback channel for guests who will not use WhatsApp, and a reliable outbound path for confirmations and operational notices. D3x agents run on SMS with the same hospitality skills as WhatsApp: live reservation lookup, writes back to the PMS, and human handoff with full context.

In the D3x stack SMS typically rides on Twilio. Use this page as the starting outline for number provisioning, opt-in, and which workflows you want on SMS versus WhatsApp.

When hotels use SMS

  • Markets or guest segments where WhatsApp is not the default.
  • Transactional notices: pre-arrival, check-in links, delay or disruption updates.
  • Two-way service requests from guests who text the property number.

Keep consent and sender-ID rules in the destination country. The agent still escalates complaints and VIP cases; SMS is not a dump of every WhatsApp workflow by default.
